While going on a walk on the streets of her neighborhood in St. Louis, Missouri, a woman saw something quite strange.
Tied to a stop sign stood an adorable little pup who seemed to be all alone.
As the woman was unable to spot any hoomans to which this dog belonged, she slowly approached him, trying to understand what was going on.
Belly Rub Time
As she knelt down, getting closer to the pup, she couldn’t help but notice that the dog was lifting up his leg.
The woman, like any other dog lover, instinctively gave him a nice little belly rub and the dog loved it!
As she continued giving him some sweet cuddles, she also contacted the Stray Rescue of St. Louis (SRSL), Missouri.
Picking up the phone was Donna Lochmann, SRSL’s chief life saving officer. As soon as Donna heard about this sweet little Pit Bull mix, she was on her way.
When Donna arrived, she was met with an incredible scene. The pup, now named Campbell, was surrounded by a group of very affectionate women.
Campbell was in doggo heaven!
However, even though they untied him from the stop sign, Campbell still did not want to get up.
“When I got up to him, he rolled over and stuck his leg up. I thought at first that there was something wrong with it, but he truly just wanted a belly rub,” said Donna.
And, of course, if a dog wants belly rubs, you give him exactly that.
Dona and her rescue partner spent some time scathing Campbell’s belly, gaining his trust so that they could lure him into their car.
However, things did not go according to plan. Campbell enjoyed himself so much that he simply did not want to stand up.
In the end, Donna had to carefully scoop him up in her arms and carry him into the car by herself.
He was a really timid dog. He was unsure about what was happening, but he definitely liked the belly rubs right off the bat.
To The Shelter
They made their way over to the shelter where Campbell received a thorough checkup.
Since he was such a good boy, they immediately started looking for the perfect home which would satisfy his belly rubbing needs.
While he waits to get matched with his perfect family, Campbell is currently staying with his fosters.
But, don’t worry – not only does he have a warm place to sleep in, he also has more than enough love, attention, and belly rubs than he could ever dream of.
Please remember that you should not abandon your dogs on the streets if you are no longer able to care for them.Simply drop them off at your local shelter and allow them to get a second chance at a loving home. They deserve it!
