A boy finds the warm comfort of love when a dog hugs him, filling the void caused by his parents’ abandonment.
Rommel Quemenales, an 11-year-old boy from Quezon City, Philippines, has lived apart from his divorced parents since he was a child. He has an older sister who lives in another city, but she has been begging for food on the streets since he passed second grade since he doesn’t have the financial means to get there.
Rommel says that he always wanted to continue his education after being abandoned by his loved ones, but had to leave school early. After the story of him became popular on social media, pictures of him and his puppy spread on the Internet and touched the hearts of thousands of people around the world.
Maria Kabs saw the boy and his dog on the street and shared photos of them on her Facebook page. The woman herself was so affected that she felt compelled to photograph the two wonderful friends.

Rommel claims that he found solace in Badgi, a homeless dog who also roamed the streets alone; Since then, the two have become great friends who inspire each other to keep fighting for life.
The horrible circumstances in which these two little guys met and enriched each other provided both hope and despair. Rommel seemed unafraid of loneliness and abuse while he was with Badgi; For his part, the pup didn’t care if his mate was a bum or a privileged child; love was enough for this canine.
After all that he has been through in his short life, this boy is still full of love, hope and is happy with the wonderful connection he has formed with his faithful dog.
