Orphaned Baby Zebra And Rhino Calf Comforts And Helps Each Other Heal
The animal kingdom is filled with the unlikeliest of friendships and the friendship that blossomed between a baby zebra and rhino calf is all the proof you need. Daisy the baby rhino and Modjadji the baby zebra reside in the Care For Wild Rhino Sanctuary located in South Africa. The two buds helped each other with their healing process. A short time after Daisy was admitted to the sanctuary, Modjadji also came along.
Modjadji was brought to the sanctuary ICU towards the end of November month after she was discovered motionless and barely breathing on the reserve due to storms and heavy rains. At the time she appeared to be about a week old. The duo did not hesitate to form a friendship as soon as they met one another and with time they became like family. As the rhino calf and baby zebra grew up, they became stronger and braver.
With time their curiosity developed and the two began to interact with one another. Apparently, rhinos are known to be social creatures that require companionship. Modjadji provides Daisy with good companionship and displays great affection toward her. It only took the pair one month to always be together.
Now the baby zebra and rhino calf are not just best friends, but more like family. The two friends cuddle each other at night, making Daisy feel more comfortable and secure. Modjadji is a good friend who can be with Daisy at all times, giving her round-the-clock attention. Another benefit of this friendship includes the fact that it ensures that there isn’t too much human contact with Daisy.
Once the two buds recover and are in perfect health, the sanctuary looks forward to releasing them back into the wild to live with those of their own kind. Until then the baby rhino and baby zebra will be each other’s family. Isn’t it such a beautiful thing to witness animals being there for each other during times of need? The photographs of the two cuddling together are sure to melt your heart.
